Telepractice Camp

An Intensive Program for Families Across Queensland. Telepractice Camp brings families from regional and remote Queensland to Brisbane for a three-day program. Children develop skills in communication, social engagement, and academic confidence, while families connect with others on the same journey. This camp combines therapy, learning, and fun in a supportive, family-centred environment.

Why Attend?

Children in metropolitan areas have easy access to therapy, hearing technology support, and peer networks. Families in rural and remote areas rely on telepractice for similar services.

Telepractice Camp provides:

  • Individual lessons and assessments tailored to each child
  • Group activities to build resilience, social skills, and confidence
  • Parent education to support learning and communication at home
  • Opportunities for children and families to meet peers and form supportive networks

For children who are the only ones in their community with hearing loss, the camp creates a sense of belonging and shared experience.

Camp Activities

For Children

  • Audiology sessions, including cochlear implant mapping
  • Listening and Spoken Language lessons and assessments
  • Group programs with fun, age-appropriate activities

For Parents

  • Education sessions with practical strategies for home and school
  • Opportunities to connect with other families

Family Time

  • Shared accommodation and meals encourage informal social connections
  • Time to build friendships and networks that continue after camp
Developmental & Clinical Benefits

Telepractice Camp allows therapists to observe children in person, identifying needs that may be harder to capture online.

Activities focus on:

  • Speech and language development – improve articulation and understanding of language
  • Hearing technology – ensure children use devices effectively
  • Listening skills – develop the ability to detect and interpret sounds
  • Social and emotional confidence – practise expressing thoughts and feelings

Planning & Preparation

Before attending, your child’s therapist will discuss goals and areas of focus. Progress is monitored throughout the program, and parents receive guidance, practical tips, and strategies to continue at home.
