With expert knowledge in listening and spoken language and decades of experience training adults that support children with hearing loss and other challenges, we help educators and families support children’s listening, communication and participation in kindy and beyond.
Hear and Say is proud to be involved in Queensland’s Kindergarten Inclusion Service, a statewide initiative that supports kindergartens to be inclusive, responsive and accessible for children with additional needs.
As a specialist organisation with decades of experience in paediatric hearing and communication, Hear and Say brings expert audiology and speech pathology knowledge to early learning settings. Our role focuses on supporting kindergartens to understand and respond to the listening and communication needs of children with complex needs, helping them fully participate in play, learning and social interactions
Through the Kindergarten Inclusion Service, Hear and Say works collaboratively with teachers and educators to build inclusive environments that support effective communication. This includes guidance on reducing noise in kindy rooms, understanding hearing technology, and getting “back to basics” with adult-child interactions that promote confidence, connection and engagement in the kindy setting.
We aim to increase the capability and confidence of your team without overburdening them. By sharing evidence-based information and practical strategies, we help kindergartens strengthen their inclusive practices and better support children in their final year of early education and care.
Hear and Say is committed to early intervention, collaboration and best practice. Our participation in the Kindergarten Inclusion Service reflects our shared goal of ensuring all children have access to inclusive early learning environments where they can develop strong listening, speech and communication skills from the very start.
Hear and Say provides school visits for eligible children with hearing loss enrolled in Queensland state, Catholic, and independent schools. This free service is delivered through the Special Disability School Support (SDSS) program.
As part of our Early Intervention Listening and Spoken Language and Audiology programs, these visits offer tailored information and specialist support for both educators and students, particularly during the transition to school.
