Accessing the NDIS

Hear and Say is a registered NDIS provider, with many of our programs and services eligible for NDIS funding.

What is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is Australia’s first national scheme for people with disability. It provides funding directly to individuals with permanent and significant disabilities, enabling them to access supports and services.

Our dedicated team can support you at any stage of your NDIS journey, from accessing funding for the first time, preparing for the planning meeting, to using your funds.

Getting started

Are you eligible?

To be eligible to access the NDIS you need to meet certain access requirements.

For young children

NDIS fact sheets

The NDIS website has fact sheets, which cover everything from Applying to the NDIS to Using your NDIS Plan and Changing your Plan. These resources are updated regularly by the NDIS. Advocating for funds

Advocating for all the supports and services you or your child requires is key to ensuring you receive adequate NDIS funding. Start by discussing what is needed with your Hear and Say clinician to ensure you have the information and quotes to advocate for this budget.

Service Agreement

Once you have received your NDIS plan, please email a copy to our team ndis@hearandsay.com.au, they will arrange a Service Agreement for your support at Hear and Say.

Using Your Plan

Understanding your Budget

It is important for you to understand the different budget buckets. You will be allocated funds across three different budgets:

  • Core supports
  • Capacity building supports
  • Capital supports

These can be used across different services at Hear and Say, and our team can guide you to ensure you’re maximising your allocated funding.

Managing Your NDIS Plan

The NDIS website includes information about how you can manage your NDIS plan.

Reviewing your plan

Your NDIS plan will periodically be reviewed by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). About two to three months prior to your plan expiring, a member of our team will liaise with your clinician to begin preparing necessary documentation and assessing what’s needed for the following year.

This is an opportunity to add any supports or services to your plan that you may not have previously budgeted for.

Run out of NDIS funds?

Your approved NDIS plan will be valid for 12, 24 or 36 months with funds allocated based on your child’s support needs. In some cases, you may know that your approved NDIS plan will not cover your recommended services. You may also unknowingly overspend or run out of funds, or your circumstances could change affecting the services you need.

If this happens, and if appropriate, please contact your plan manager and request a review of your plan.

Change in circumstances

Sometimes, your personal circumstances, or your child’s may change significantly which could impact the supports or services needed. It is important to let the NDIA know about your changed situation and request a review of your plan.

Change in circumstances

If you’re ineligible for NDIS funding or are yet to receive your NDIS plan, please contact us to discuss.
