This week, we raised our teacups to a very special milestone—10 years since the doors first opened at Hear and Say’s Ashgrove Centre.
What began as a vision over a decade ago has become a bustling, welcoming hub where countless children and families have taken their first steps in the world of sound and speech. To celebrate, we hosted a morning tea filled with laughter, reflection, and heartfelt thanks.
Our founder, Dr Dimity Dornan, shared memories of the early days — when the Ashgrove building was a far cry from the bright and inviting space it is today. She spoke with warmth and humour about the state the property was in when it was first acquired, and how, with a whole lot of heart (and a little elbow grease), the transformation was made possible.
That Transformation had a Name: Project Possibility.
This community-driven fundraising effort brought together so many generous supporters who believed in the power of early intervention and the importance of giving every child the chance to hear, speak and thrive. What was once just a derelict building became a centre of hope, possibility, and progress.
We were honoured to welcome our local State Member Jonty Bush MP, to open the speeches and mingle with guests, representing major donors and supporters such as Children’s Health Queensland, Perpetual, Mettle, GB-A, Meridian Urban, Quota clubs of Wynnum Manly and Gold Coast, and AMEB.
