Our “Hear to Learn” School Hearing Screening program brings expert hearing checks directly to your school, helping identify hearing issues early, so children can get the support they need to succeed at school.
Even if a child passed their newborn hearing screen, hearing loss can develop at any age. Often, it occurs gradually and goes unnoticed. Our program helps bridge this gap, offering early identification of hearing concerns during the vital early years of schooling.

Our mobile screening team visits schools across Queensland, providing on-site testing in a convenient and child-friendly setting.
Our school-based hearing checks are simple, gentle, and designed to make children feel comfortable. Each child completes a three-step screening to help identify any potential hearing concerns early.
Visual inspection of the ear canal and ear drums using an otoscope (ear torch).
An objective assessment of the middle ear function. It allows us to determine the status of the middle ear to look for signs of congestion or Eustachian tube dysfunction.
Hearing test for each ear using calibrated noise cancelling headphones, providing information on a student’s ability to hear sounds that reflect common speech frequencies (0.5-4kHz), which are important for language and speech development.

Hear and Say provides expert hearing screening directly in schools, ensuring students with hearing concerns are identified early and provided with the right follow-up support.
On average, of the children screened through our school hearing screening program, 7-12% are identified as having a hearing issue.
Our rescreen clinics are designed to prioritise these children and remove known barriers to accessing further diagnosis and care.
Rescreen clinics are offered in our centres to ensure testing is conducted in a quiet space, free from external distractions.
The clinics occur 4 times per year, in the last week of the school term. The parents of students who receive a screening refer result will be provided with an online registration link for the rescreen clinics.
